Obituary for Don Edward Waters

Don Edward Waters, born December 30, 1958 in Birmingham, Michigan passed away at his home in Davisburg, Michigan on May 1, 2020 at the age of 61. Don had an affinity for the outdoors from the very start, learning to catch various reptiles and shoot BB's at menacing animals early in his childhood. As he grew into the teenage years, Don enjoyed fixing cars, boating, fishing and hanging with friends while graduating from Bloomfield Hills Andover High School in 1977. As an adult, Don advanced his love affair with motors by taking up snowmobiling, four wheeling, excavating (for fun) and motorcycling. He and a large contingent of friends also rafted some of the most turbulent rivers in the US while living off the natural wonder of riverside campsites. He was known by all those close to him as very generous with his funds, his time, and his "do it all" mechanical capability.

Don is survived by special friend Laurie Herrgott, brother Jack Waters Jr., sister in-law Nancy Kamrath-Waters, niece Heather Andreyo-Waters, niece Michelle (Waters) Donohue and nephew Ryan Waters. He was pre-deceased by father Jack Waters Sr., mother Jo Ann (Dasher) Waters, stepmother Jan Coil, his beloved dogs, Biscuit and Nixie, as well as 5% of the fish he did not return to the water.

We celebrate Don's life with pictures and anecdotes from his friends. Please log onto the Funeral Directors website at and follow the tabs for "Tribute Wall" or "Photos" to download.

In recognition of Don Waters wonderful life from December 30, 1958 to May 1, 2020 we will have a friendly and informal gathering with provided lunch at the Townsend Hotel, 100 Townsend Street but please enter at the corner of Pierce and Merrill Streets in Birmingham (Clancy Room entrance across from Police Station) from Noon until 2:00 or 3:00 pm. Please feel free to bring pictures or other memories of Don and we will all tell some positive stories about his life. If you are able attend, please notify Jack Waters ( or 610-299-4711) as soon as possible so we can assign a table for you. If you cannot attend, we will send out streaming information so you can join remotely.

In lieu of flowers or gifts, the family suggests a contribution to the Brighton Treatment Center through the St. Johns Provident fund or the National Rifle Association Foundation
