Obituary for Colette Walsh

C. Colette Walsh died January 29, 2020. She was 93 years old. Colette was born September 19, 1926 in Detroit to Charlotte (nee O’Connor) and Patrick Currier. She graduated from St. Mary’s of Redford High School and received her Bachelor’s Degree from Barry College.

Colette was an accomplished seamstress and knitter. She enjoyed golf and was an avid bridge player and member of the Village Club and Stonycroft Hills Golf Club in Bloomfield Hills.

A woman of great faith, Colette was involved in many Catholic Charities including Christ Child Society, St. Regis Altar Society, Fr. Solanus Casey Capuchins, and the Carmelites.

A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, Colette was deeply loved and will be sorely missed by all those who had the good fortune of knowing and loving her.

Colette is survived by her children, John (Cathy) Walsh III, Mary (Frank) Roberts, Kathleen (Ronald Ruffing) Spencer, Carol (Ted) Ryan, Michael (Heidi) Walsh, and Patrick Walsh. She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren, Caitlin (Mitsuteru) Sasaki, Erin (Michael) Davidson, Alison (Leon) Malkowych, Timothy (Kaitlin) Roberts, Haley Spencer, Meghan Ryan, Elizabeth (Lee) Kutter, and Monica (Pierre) Stroh, her 9 great-grandchildren, and her loving sister, Clare Schneider. Colette is preceded in death by her beloved husband, John F. Walsh, Jr. and her siblings, Donald Currier, Vincent Currier, Desmond Currier, and Gerald Currier.

Friends may visit at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 1368 N. Crooks Road (between 14-15 Mile Rds.) Friday, January 31st, 5-8pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Regis Catholic Church, 3695 Lincoln Drive, Bloomfield Hills, Saturday, February 1st at 11am. Friends may visit at church beginning at 10:30am. Burial will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Southfield.
