Obituary for William J. Minore

William J. Minore, 89, passed away Friday, February 14, 2020, after a brief illness. Born June
15, 1930, in Detroit, Michigan, to Luigi and Vitina (Tuzzo) Minore. Bill graduated from high
school in Detroit and then attended college at Wayne State University. He was co-captain of
the Fencing team and ROTC during his tenure. Bill then served his country as a pilot during the Korean conflict, winning medals for his actions in combat. He served in the Strategic Air
Command (SAC) and was involved during the Cuban Missile Crisis, as well as the Vietnam War.

During that time, he married Mary Catherine Pentescu in 1956. Their children Dr. W.
Stephen (Laura) Minore, LuAnn Minore, and John Minore, Esq. were all imbued with Bill's
intensity and work ethic.

Bill was a member of St. George Romanian Orthodox Cathedral and served on the
church council with his brother-in-law, Peter Pentescu, from 1965-1972. Bill was an avid
fisherman and hunter, accompanying his son Stephen on many expeditions.

Bill was a senior staff engineer at Detroit Diesel Allison Division from 1966 to 1983, before he
started his own business, Minore Associates, with his older brother Gasper Minore.

Bill was preceded in death by his wife Mary in 1983, his parents Luigi and Vitina, his brother
Gasper, as well as his grandson, William Stephen Minore, Jr. in 2014, and his youngest son John in 2019. Bill passed on the same day as John, one year later.

Bill married Marion Mizzi in 1991, and together they traveled the far corners of the globe via
land and sea. They always had a rescue dog that kept them agile and active. Bill is survived by his wife, Marion, son, Dr. William Stephen (Laura) Minore, his daughter LuAnn Minore and his special goddaughter, friend, and guardian angel, Ms. Helen Oliver-Brooks, his granddaughter Mary Catherine Minore and his niece, Vita Minore Ohlman (Ky).

Bill was a lifelong member of the NRA, Arnold Air Society and Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE).

A Funeral Services will be held at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 1368 N. Crooks Road, (between 14-15 Mile Rds.) Saturday, February 22nd at 11am. Friends may visit beginning at 9am. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Detroit.
