Obituary for William H. Dodenhoff

William H. Dodenhoff died peacefully at his home in Bloomfield, March 22, 2012, surrounded by his family. He was 84 years old. Mr. Dodenhoff was born August 30, 1927, in Detroit to Germaine (nee Rademacher) and William Dodenhoff.

A 1945 graduate of Detroit Cooley High School, Mr. Dodenhoff went on to serve with the United States Army Allied Occupational Forces in Europe from 1945-1947. In 1951, he married the love of his life, Mary Dolores �Dee� Tracey, and together, the couple had four children. In 1952, Mr. Dodenhoff graduated from the University of Michigan and remained a Wolverine football fan throughout his life. Professionally, he worked as salesman for Michigan Bell Telephone Company, from which he retired in 1985. From childhood into retirement, Mr. Dodenhoff�s greatest joy came from spending summers with his family in Oscoda. He loved sailing and was a past member of Crescent Sail Yacht Club. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, he was deeply loved and will be sorely missed.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Dee, his children, Sue Dodenhoff, Bill Dodenhoff, Barbara (Brad) Urlaub, and Bob (Kim) Dodenhoff, and his grandsons, Ben, Kevin, and Alex Urlaub. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Bernice (the late Eston) Goodell.

A Memorial Visitation will take place at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 1368 N. Crooks Road (between 14-15 Mile Rds.) Sunday 4-7pm.
