Obituary for William C. Roney, Jr.

William C. Roney, Jr. of Bloomfield Hills died February 4, 2018 in Palm City, Florida. He was 93 years old. Bill was born December 19, 1924 in Detroit to Helen (nee Hurdley) and William C. Roney, Sr.

Bill proudly served in the United States Army during WWII. A graduate of Notre Dame University in 1949 with a BBA in Finance, Bill served as past president of the Notre Dame Club of Detroit. Professionally he was a stockbroker and senior partner at Roney & Company until his retirement in 1995. He was governor for Midwest Stock Exchange and director of Securities Industry Association and Hutzel Hospital. Bill was a member of the Cardinal Club as well as Orchard Lake Country Club for over 50 years.

Bill enjoyed golf, croquet, skiing and he was an avid painter. He also loved all things Irish, Northern Michigan and traveling with his family. He will be deeply missed.

Bill is survived by his wife, Jean Lovett and children, William C. (Joanne Kelley) Roney III, Michael C. (Jo) Roney, Kathleen F. Roney, and Brian J. (Carol) Roney. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Will Roney, Ellen Green, Ryan Rackley, Cameron Hesson, Catherine Roney, Brian Roney, and Michael Roney and 6 great-grandchildren. Bill is preceded in death by his first wife, Catherine Cavanaugh.

Friends may visit at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 1368 N. Crooks Road (between 14-15 Mile Rds.) Friday, February 9th, 4-8pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Name Church, 630 Harmon, Birmingham, Saturday, February 10th at 10am. Friends may visit at church beginning at 9:30am.
