Obituary for Violet R. Fullerton

Violet R. Fullerton died December 28, 2018 at St. John Macomb-Oakland Hospital in Warren. She was 85 years old. Violet was born on October 14, 1933 in Burnham, Illinois to parents Bessie Mae (nee Connors) and Vernon J. Fout.

Violet was a loving mother of four children. She worked hard to support her family. Violet ran a TV repair shop, built mobile homes, and worked with thoroughbred horses. She met her second husband, Dick Fullerton while working at various race tracks throughout the United States. Following Dick’s passing, Violet obtained her horse trainer license and won her first horse race as a trainer at the Finger Lake Race Track in New York.

In 1984, Violet moved from Hot Springs, Arkansas to Royal Oak, Michigan, where she lived with her son, Jim and his wife, Nancy. Violet continued to work at the Hazel Park Raceway and Detroit Race Course in the admissions department until her retirement.
Violet was a member of the Warner Memorial Church of God in Ferndale. She loved to watch old re-runs of western movies, listen to her religious thymes, and had very big “sweet tooth”. Violet especially loved to spending time with her family and friends. She will be deeply missed by all.

Violet is survived by her loving children, James (Nancy) Caudill, Jr., Robert Caudill, Janet (Perry) Bodkin, and Donald (Laura) Caudill, her step-children Dixie Fullerton and Jerry Fullerton, and her grandchildren, James “Jocko” Caudill, Robert Caudill, Donald Caudill, Jennifer (Josh) Winkler, and Shawn’te (Abdullah) Shabazz. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Lane, Saul, TJ, and Emma and her siblings, Mabel Ramirez, Carl Fout, Jo (John) Narug, Ben (Carol) Fout, and many nieces and nephews. Violet is preceded in death by her husbands, James Caudill, Sr. and Richard Fullerton, her grandson, Michael Caudill, and her siblings, Grace Hartman, Vivian Jackson, Vernon Fout, Gene (Inci) Fout, Harold Fout, Dorothy Gonzalez, and Robert Fout.

A Funeral Service will be held at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 1368 N. Crooks Road (between 14-15 Mile Rds.) Clawson, on Thursday (January 3rd) at 7pm. Friends may visit beginning at 5pm. Burial in Oakview Cemetery, Royal Oak.
