Timothy Francis Root, of Ortonville, died suddenly at the age of 55 years old. Tim was born December 6, 1955 to parents Norman and Gale Root. It was said, by some (only his parents) that Tim was the most beautiful Root baby. Tim grew up in Silver Springs, Maryland and Detroit, Michigan with his eight siblings. In 1970, Tim attended Redford High School.

It was Wednesday, December 29, 1972 when Tim enlisted in the United States Marine Corp and proudly served his country on active duty until March of 1976. Following his service in the USMC, Tim attended Madonna College and Oakland Community College, where he earned his Associate and Bachelor Degrees, respectively. He also earned his EMT certification. In 1989, Tim graduated from the Detroit Fire Departments Emergency Medical Service and served with the City of Detroit for several years. It was that year 1989 that Tim married the love of his life, Lisa Dunbar Root and together they raised four children. In 2003, Tim began three tours of duty in Iraq and in 2008, he accepted assignment in Nigeria.

On Fathers Day, June 19, 2011 Tim completed his mission on earth and was called home by his Lord. Tim left this earth a better place than he found it few people can say that.

Tim is survived by his beloved wife Lisa; loving children, Anthony (Amanda) Root, Christopher Root, Alycia Root, and Michael Root; cherished son of Norman Root. He is also survived by his siblings, Norman (Maureen) Root, Daniel (Linda) Root, Patricia McCabe, Paul (Joan) Root, Diane (John) Shelton, Karen Deer, Mary Wagner, James (Kelly) Root, and many nieces, nephews and dear friends both home and abroad.
