Obituary for Thomas Lee Bloomer

Thomas L. Bloomer of Clawson, Michigan passed away suddenly, but peacefully, on August 8, 2016. He was 62 years old. Thomas was born on May 5, 1954 in Highland Park, Michigan to parents Kathryn (nee Popovich) and Marion Bloomer.

Proud and loving father of Olivia, Adam and Katie. Dear brother to Cheryl Silver and Karen Bloomer. Dedicated uncle to Rebecca Gleason, Jason Silver, Brandon Cook, Oona Wieske, Amelia Wieske, Laura Black, Robert Bloomer and Jennifer DeVoe. Tom is preceded in death by his sister, Mary Ellen and parents Kathryn (nee Popovich) and Marion Bloomer.

In Tom’s own words, first and foremost he was a writer. A well-known and respected member of Metro Detroit’s advertising community, Tom wrote copy and content for the last couple decades as an advertising/marketing professional with serious street cred. He held leadership roles at agencies large and small, local and worldwide. Most recently, Tom was a freelance writer and journalist, enjoying sharing not only his talent but also his wit and vast musical and spiritual knowledge.

Tom was also a friend. Through trials and struggles, highs and lows, Tom’s moral core was always steady. His integrity was unwavering and his sense of humor wickedly intact. Many will remember him fondly for his sympathetic ear and sturdy shoulder. Others recognized him as a beacon during their own storm. Tom was a loving inspiration, wise and gentle with an indomitable spirit and emphatic soul. Tom was indeed a servant to all of those in need.

A Memorial Service for Tom will be held at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 1368 N. Crooks Road (between 14-15 Mile Rds.) on Saturday, August 13th at 2pm. Friends may visit beginning at 11am. Internment in White Chapel Cemetery, Troy.
