Obituary for Theophil "Ted" Bratta

Theophil “Ted” Bratta of Berkley passed away peacefully during the Most Sacred Hours of Good Friday, April 10, 2020. He was born February 24, 1932 in Detroit to the late George and Rose (Peres) Bratta. He graduated from Highland Park High School and attended Wayne State University. He was a very proud Air Force veteran and a design engineer retired from Ford Motor Company.

He took great pleasure in sharing his faith as a lector at the Shrine of The Little Flower. He enjoyed helping others, “fixing things”, fishing, camping and cruising. For 22 years drove his prized 1970 Mustang in the Berkley Classic Car parade and the Woodward Dream Cruise.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years Dolores (Mitchell), loving daughter Kathy (Christopher) Dorando of Schenectady, N.Y., son Michael (Marsha) of Ocala, Fl., cherished grandsons Douglas (Sarah) Dorando of Northbrook, Il. and Nicholas (Rachel) Dorando of Troy, N.Y. Siblings Violet (Gordon) Hopman, Theresa Bratta, Alan, and Victor (Karen). Ted is preceded in death by his brother George, Jr.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Monday, June 22, 2020 at 10am at The National Shrine of the Little Flower Basilica, 2100 Twelve Mile Road, Royal Oak, Michigan 48073. Committal Prayers and Military Honors will follow Mass at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan at 1:30pm.

Memorials appreciated to The National Shrine of the Little Flower Basilica, the Parkinson’s Disease Foundation, or Wounded Warriors.
