Obituary for Terese K. Healy

Terese K. Healy, formerly Terese K. Campbell, died peacefully, January 8, 2012, at St. Annes Mead in Southfield. She was 81 years old. Terese was born May 2, 1930, in Lansing to Mildred (nee Keilbach) and C. Walter Kelly.

Raised in Detroit and Buffalo, New York, Terese received her nursing degree from Canisius College. On October 3, 1953, Terese married Frank Campbell at St. Scholastica Church in Detroit. Together, Frank and Terese had 4 children. Frank died suddenly in 1962, and 6 years later, on July 9, 1968, Terese married John Healy at Manresa Jesuit Retreat House in Bloomfield Hills. John and Terese settled in Sherwood Forest and soon thereafter Terese gave birth to her fifth child, John.

Terese was a dedicated nurse throughout her life, volunteering at free health clinics in Detroit long after retirement. An avid reader, Terese also enjoyed playing bridge and travel, especially to Ireland; however, her greatest joy came from spending time with family and friends. A loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, she was greatly loved and will be sorely missed.

Terese is survived by her children, Kathleen Mavourneen Ruiz, Mary Elizabeth (Tom) Laskey, Kelly Maureen (Kathleen Mohring) Campbell, Michael Dennis (Shalamee) Campbell, and John Van Leyen (Teresa) Healy. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Rebecca, Caraugh, Loren, Chip, Lexi, Jamie, Ashley, Alicia, Shawn, Cherie, Victoria, Ryan, Jessica, Sage, and Leyen, and great-grandchildren, Gabe, Alex, Lourdes, Layla, Bella, Sophia, Mateo, Jake, Gavin, Aryana, Natalie, Brady, Kasey, Talia, Matthew, Kyle, Rhea, Tatum, and Jack. Terese is preceded in death by her husbands, Frank Campbell and John Healy, and brother, Patrick Kelly.
