Born in 1962 in Beverly Hills, Michigan to Henry E. and Marion R. McDonnell, Susan was full of zest and exuberance of the kind she was embracing the day God took her.

After attending the University of Michigan and receiving her Bachelor of Science in Industrial and Operational Engineering, she pursued a career in technology and software sales. She was a loving mother and step-mother in partnership with her steadfast, caring husband Patrick. In addition, she was a true adventurer, excelling in numerous sports and traveling extensively.

Susan was deeply committed to many programs at Oakland Church, where she was a regular participant and leader in bible study. She, her husband and son also participated in a medical missionary trip to Peru in 2019.

In addition to her husband and son, she is survived by a stepson, Scott Kolarchick, his wife Gina, and their children John and Kimberly; a stepdaughter, Christin K. Bieber, her husband Brian, their children Myles, Samantha and Zach. She is also survived by two brothers, Henry E. McDonnell III and Peter R. McDonnell, his wife Paula, and their children Matthew, Lauren and Kathryn; and a sister, Nancy McDonnell Scharff and her husband Edward; and innumerable close friends.

Susan had a luminescent spirit, showing love and kindness to everyone she met. She was the ray of sunshine in so many people’s lives. Although we know Susan is in a better place, we will forever miss her. May her soul rest in peace.
