Obituary for Stephanie Walatkiewicz

Stephanie Walatkiewicz, of Clawson, died August 10, 2012 at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak. She was 89 years old. Mrs. Walatkiewicz was born June 8, 1923 in Detroit, Michigan to Catherine (nee Sokolowaki) and Jacob Barszcz.

Mrs. Walatkiewicz married Casimer J. Walatkiewicz on September 29, 1945. Two years later they were blessed with their first son James and then a second son, Larry, in 1952. Stephanie and Casimer were married for forty years.

Mrs. Walatkiewicz spent many years working in sales at Kmart. She was known as the �appliance lady at Kmart� in the Polish community because of her ability to speak and understand Polish. At the end of the day you could always find one of Mrs. Walatkiewicz�s family waiting to pick her up.

Mrs. Walatkiewicz was a very active member of the Clawson Senior Center and the Sassy Cherry Jammers of the Red Hat Society. She enjoyed playing cards, bingo, music, traveling, and was a devoted fan of the Detroit Red Wings and the Detroit Tigers.

Mrs. Walatkiewicz is survived by her sons, James (Cindie) Wals and Larry (June) Walatkiewicz; grandchildren, Rachelle Bietler, Renee Brown, Christina Walatkiewicz and Jonathan (Jaclyn Vidusic) Walatkiewicz; Great- grandchildren, Caiden and Madden Brown, Abbey and Allison Bietler. She is also survived by her brother, Thomas Barsczc and remembered by many nieces, nephews and friends. Mrs. Walatkiewicz is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Casimer ; brothers, John (Ann)Barsczc, Stanley (Stella)Barsczc, and Edward (Audrey)Barsczc and sister, Helen (Hank)Bartnik.

Visitation at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 1368 N. Crooks Rd. (between 14-15 Mile Rds.) Friday 3-8pm. Prayer service 7 pm. Funeral mass at Guardian Angels Church, 581 E. 14 Mile Rd., Clawson, Saturday 10:30am. Friends may visit beginning at 10am.
