Obituary for Stefanie Eitel Lawler

Stefanie Eitel Lawler, of Birmingham, passed away on March 4, 2018 in her home in Birmingham surrounded by her children and her husband. Stefanie was passionate about her faith and her God. She was active with her Christ Our Light Catholic Church, Right to Life, and Meals on Wheels, among others. Her other passions were her lovely garden and her large family. Her house and arms were open to anyone who needed a “mom” and many of her children’s friends considered her a second mother.

Stefanie attended St. Francis de Sales Catholic High School and St. Mary's of the Spring (now Ohio Dominican University), where she earned a degree in nursing. She met her husband of 60 years, Richard O. Lawler, while in college. They married in 1958.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Maria Eitel (Oma and Opa), her daughter, Barbara Ann, and two grandchildren, Carey Anne and Matthew. She is survived by her husband Richard, her children Kathy (Wayne) Hill, Margaret (Tim) Michael, Theresa (James) Hill, Chris (Amber) Lawler, Mike (Stacey) Lawler, and Ed (Stacy) Lawler. She is also survived by 21 grandchildren who loved her dearly: David (Lizz) Hill, Jason (Jennifer) Hill, Kelley (Chris) Rose; l; Todd (Kelly) Michael, Scott Michael; Eric, Sarah and Anna Hill; Elwood, Bjorn, Vaughan, Marian and Winter Lawler; Joseph, Patrick, Dominic, Andrew, and Meredith Lawler; Liana, Ehren and Dahlia Lawler. Additionally, she is also survived by 8 great-grandchildren, Natalee and Robyn Hill, Xavier and Zeke Hill, Connor Belleau, James and Eli Michael, and Julia Rose.

Visitation is at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 1368 N. Crooks Road (between 14-15 Mile Roads), Clawson, Thursday, March 8, 2018, 3-8pm. Rosary 3pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Christ Our Light Catholic Church, 2345 Coolidge, Troy, Friday, March 9, 2018 at 10:30am.
