Obituary for Stanley J. Sczechowski, DDS

Dr. Stanley Joseph Sczechowski, DDS, of Troy died August 31, 2016, at Sanai-Grace Hospital in Detroit. He was 94 years old. Stanley was born June 19, 1922 in Detroit, Michigan, to Mary (nee Giska) and Alexander Sczechowski. Stanley married Helen Drapalski on July 26, 1958.

A devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend, Stanley was deeply loved and will be sorely missed.

Stanley grew up in Hamtramck, Michigan. He proudly served in the United States Army Air Corps in WWII, stationed in England, followed by an MP tour of Europe. Upon returning to the United States, Stanley attended Detroit Institute of Technology, where he earned a B.S. in Pharmacy. He then went on to dental school at the University of Detroit, graduating with a DDS degree in 1955. Stanley opened his dentistry practice in 1958. Outside of work, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and working in his yard. He played an active role at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Auburn Hills, where he was an usher.

Stanley is survived by his sons, Dr. Dennis (Cathi) Sczechowski and Dr. Jeffrey (Namino) Sczechowski. He is also survived by his grandchildren Justin, Nicole, Garrett, Eve, Jessica, and Nicolas. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Sczechowski, his brothers, Joseph Dunn and John Smith, his sisters, Helen Krysko and Florence Lasinski, and daughters-in-law, Suzanne Iott and Jane Sczechowski.

Friends may visit at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 1368 N. Crooks Road (between 14-15 Mile Rds.) Friday, September 2nd, 3-8 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 3360 S. Adams Road, Auburn Hills, on Saturday, September 3rd at 10 a.m. Friends may visit at church beginning at 9:30 a.m. Interment at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Detroit.
