Obituary for Sandra Lee Cecilia Schmaltz

Sandra Lee Cecilia Schmaltz, 61, of Clawson, died Thursday, April 28, 2011 surrounded in love by her family and friends. Sandy was born in Highland Park, Michigan on October 17, 1949 to Ray and Leona (Ebaugh) Rowles. She was raised and spent most her life in Clawson, Michigan. Sandy married Dennis Schmaltz in 1970 and spent more than 20 years working as a Medical Transcriptionist at Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak.

God blessed Sandy with four beautiful children, fourteen grandchildren and one great grandson. She was an extremely proud mother and grandmother. Sandy was a true inspiration to her family. She was strong, courageous and brave. Her commitment as a mother, daughter, sister, grandmother and friend was unwavering. Spending time with those she loved was most important to her. She passed on the importance of honesty, integrity and giving your best at anything to her children and grandchildren. Sandy never lost her fun nature and ability to embrace her inner child no matter how old she got. She had a zest for life and an infectious laugh. Sandy loved to go to amusement parks with her family. She spent many weekends with her grandchildren watching movies, playing games and doting on each of them equally. As her family grew, so did her heart. Her gift of unconditional love is one of her most beautiful attributes. The spirit of that love will live forever in those whose lives she touched. Sandy was an amazing woman who will be missed immensely by all those that knew and loved her.

Sandy is survived by her loving children, Juli (Bobby) Whitehead, David (Nikki) Schmaltz, Andrea (Matt) Hodges, Aaron (Lisa) Schmaltz; father, Fred Pratt; sister, Pat Wilson; brother, Ron Rowles, She is also survived by 14 grandchildren; 1 great grandson, her friend who was loved as a sister, Fran Paden, and several nieces and nephews.
