Sally was born on October 4, 1937 in Lincoln Park, Michigan to James Chenevert and Rhea Dube Chenevert and was the youngest of six children. Sally graduated from Lincoln Park High School in 1955.

Sally worked at the National Bank of Detroit, where she met her husband Jack, and at Holy Name Church in Birmingham, Michigan. She was married to her loving husband on May 23, 1964 at St. Henry's Church in Lincoln Park, Michigan with their reception at the Dearborn Inn. They were married for 56 wonderful years until her death.

She did volunteer work for Christ Child Society, Holy Name SEED Foundation, and Angels’ Place. Sally enjoyed music throughout her life, including playing both the piano and French horn in settings as varied as the Scandinavian Symphony and local nursing homes. Sally loved travelling with her family, including many summers on Squam Lake in New Hampshire as well as numerous trips to cities across Europe.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her five siblings Basil, Nathalie, Joan, Shirley and Gerald.

She is survived by her husband Jack, their four children James Barnds (Cheryl), Patrick Barnds (Kirsten), Thomas Barnds (Deborah) and Mary Beth Barnds Grabel (Todd), and their 11 grandchildren who live in Michigan, Maryland, California.

Sally will be laid to rest at Greenwood Cemetery in Birmingham, near her home of 47 years.

In keeping with the restrictions in place at this time for the health and safety of our community, a private burial will be held with immediate family only. The family is planning a celebration of life at a later date in the summer when conditions allow for larger gatherings. Memorials may be made to Christ Child Society or Angels’ Place.
