Obituary for Sally E. Sage

Sally Elizabeth Sage, lifelong resident of Michigan, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by love on February 11, 2017. She was 66 years old. Sally was born in Pontiac, Michigan on July 11, 1950 to Joseph and Kathryn (Weidner) Sage.

Sally was a graduate of Royal Oak Kimball High School. After graduating high school, she went on to Oakland University where she graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Liberal Arts. Sally also graduated from her beloved Michigan State University where she received a Bachelor’s Degree in Crops and Soil Science.

Sally served as District Soil Conservationist of Clare County and was a founding member of what is now called Windover Resort in Owendale, Michigan. She also worked as a Letter Carrier for the United States Postal Service, Birmingham, Michigan having retired in 2010.

Sally could be described as a hippie, earthy, always nurturing, a natural guidance counselor, a problem solver, artistically creative, always generous and spiritual. Sally considered herself a Peaceful Warrior.

Sally enjoyed a variety of life’s pleasures. She loved to travel with her spouse. Her family and friends appreciated her skill as a handy woman who enjoyed a challenge. Sally’s work ethic was admirable. Everybody went to Sally for advice, “Sally says” was a standard quip. She was a gifted artist, skilled gardener and loved to dance. Sally enjoyed spending time with her family, both young and old, creating lasting memories and teaching life lessons. Sally loved animals, caring for other peoples’ pets as well as her own.

Sally was a devoted spouse, sister, aunt, great aunt, cousin and friend. Sally is survived by her loving wife, Linda Almeranti, her siblings Denis Sage (Sharon), Richard Sage (Maureen), Glenn Sage (Ann), Gail Sage (Tonia Murray) and Mary Sage (Paula Taylor). She was an amazing aunt to Scott Sage (Rhonda), Christopher (Julie Cook), Sarah Sage (Calie Cameron), Laura Lambert (Don), Samantha Sage , Carrie Sage, Jeff Sage (Ashley), Carly Spehar (Sidney Sobecki) and Nicholas Mulliner, and a loving great-aunt to Sarah, Jacob, Lily, Tiffany, Joseph, Jonathon, Colton, and Emma and great-great-aunt to Eric and Hazelle. A memorial gathering will take place at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 1368 N. Crooks Road, Clawson (between 14-15 Mile Rds.) Wednesday 3-8pm.

Family suggests memorials in Sally’s name be made to Michigan Humane Society at www.michiganhumane.org or the Animal Welfare Society in Madison Heights at www.animalwelfaresociety.net.

Sally’s family would also like to give a special thanks to the doctors, nurses, and medical staff at the Troy Beaumont Oncology Department. The exceptional care these special people gave to Sally is deeply appreciated.
