Obituary for Ronald S. Paske

Ronald S. Paske, 84, of Troy, MI passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his loved ones on April 23, 2021.

Ron was born in Hamtramck, MI and grew up in Detroit, MI. He graduated from Catholic Central High School and played on the golf, baseball, and bowling teams. Education was very important to him and he earned his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees at the University of Detroit. He was a devoted, faithful Catholic which was the foundation of his character, marriage, and family. He is survived by his high school sweetheart, “the love of his life”, Mary Catherine (Cholewa), who he met at age fifteen and married on July 13, 1957. They remained happily married for almost 64 years and raised four children, Karen (Gary) Haas, David Paske, Paul Paske, and Denise (Tom) Coughlin. Together they enjoyed supporting their five grandchildren, Matt (Layne) Haas, Meagan (fiancé to Brian Brennan) Haas, Lauren Coughlin, Thomas Coughlin, and Rachel Coughlin at their school activities and athletic events. They are also expecting their first great-granddaughter in August.

He is also survived by his siblings, Nola (Ronald) Puvalowski and Monica Bell and preceded in death by his parents, Stanley and Stephanie Piaskowski, and his sister Joanne Piaskowski, whom he loved dearly.

Ron was hard-working and a successful business man. He began an accounting career at General Motors before becoming a budget analyst at Chrysler Corporation. He took over his father’s business at New Palace Bakery in Hamtramck before launching his real estate career. He obtained his broker and builder’s licenses and continued managing his rental property portfolio until his passing.

His passion for golf began at a young age while caddying at Detroit Golf Club. He was a member at Red Run Golf Club since 1977. He always looked forward to his weekly Sunday morning tee time with his standing foursome and the laughs they would share. Additionally, he enjoyed playing cards and could often be seen in the men’s grille room involved in a game of gin. He was an avid Detroit, MSU, and Wolanin hockey fan and loved watching games on television.

Ron was a very social, loyal, trusting, and generous man. Nothing gave him greater joy than spending time with his Tutag and Piaskowski cousins, and his friends. He enjoyed numerous trips to Las Vegas, golf resorts, Super Bowls, and wintering in Florida. He never refused an invite, had a speech for every occasion, loved a good cup of coffee, and celebrated life with a Manhattan drink and two cherries. He will be greatly missed and will live on in our hearts forever. God Bless him and may he rest in peace.

Friends may visit at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 1368 N. Crooks Road (between 14-15 Mile Rds.) Monday, April 26rd, 2-8pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 280 E. Square Lake Road, Troy, Tuesday, April 27th at 10am. Friends may visit at church beginning at 9:30am. Ron’s funeral mass is being live streamed on saintliz.org at 10:00am Tuesday, April 27, 2021.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to either the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network or the Evans Scholars Foundation.
