Obituary for Rollin Kirk Blankinship

Rollin 'Kirk' Blankinship of St. Clair Shores, Michigan, formerly of California, died September 17, 2017 at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak. He was 66 years old. Rollin was born on April 2, 1951 in Atlantic, Iowa to parents, Carol Viola (nee Askey) and George Edward Blankinship.

Rollin graduated from Crawford High School, class of 1969 and went on to study at Grossemont Junior College. He married Leah Mink in San Diego, California on April 10, 1988. The couple had two children together.

Rollin worked as a master carpenter, builder, roofer, and tradesman. He also worked in commercial sales and customer service. Rollin had many hobbies including, surfing, fishing, boating, and building. He was also an avid sports fan and loved watching the Detroit Tigers, San Diego Padres, Detroit Lions, San Diego Chargers, and MSU Spartan football. However, Rollin’s greatest joy came from spending time with his two daughters.

Rollin loved to tell jokes and be in the presence of pretty ladies. His personality and great sense of humor will be truly missed by all who knew him.

Rollin is survived by his loving daughters, Eva Blankinship and Ali Blankinship of Royal Oak, Michigan, his former wife, Leah Mink of Palm City, Florida, and his father, George Edward Blankinship of Madera, California. He is also survived by his brother, Dean (Nancy) Blankinship of Madera, California, and his nieces, Becky Blankinship Gillmor of Maple Valley, Washington and Dana Blankinship Rayfield of Santa Cruz, California. Rollin is preceded in death by his mother, Carol Viola Askey (November 1982) and his step-mother, Marilyn Mae Blankinship (February 2012).

A Memorial Service for Rollin will be held at a later date.
