Obituary for Robert R. Rhodes

Obituary below. Let me know what you think.

Robert Ray Rhodes died December 8, 2020 after a brief battle with COVID-19. He was 97 years old. Bob was born on November 19, 1923 in Union City, Tennessee to parents, Alma and Michael Rhodes.

Bob proudly served in the United States Army during WWII and was stationed in the Philippines. After his service, Bob worked as a machinist and retired from Byrne Door after many years.

Bob was an avid bowler even in his late 90s. He bowled his last game on November 12, 2020 and kept a 150 average even with his macular degeneration and having to be told what pins were left. Bob also enjoyed golfing, traveling, and spending time with his family.

Bob married his first wife, Marjorie and is survived by his family with her; his loving children, Rebecca (Joe) Burczycki, Paula (Bob) Bahnsen, Barbra (Stan) Herston, and Carol (Tom) Dean; his cherished grandchildren, Trina, Dennis, Bobby, Michael, and Kurt; great-grandchildren, Travis, Robbie, Aubree, Erin, and Rhys; and his great-great-grandchildren, Sophie and Luke.

After Marjorie’s death in 1980, Bob remarried Margaret. Bob is survived by his beloved wife of over 30 years, Margaret and her daughter, Karen (Mark) Burns, her grandchildren, Sherry, Nicki, and Kelly, great-grandchildren, James (Shelby) and Tristan, and her great-great-grandchild, Vivian. Bob is preceded in death by Margaret’s daughter, Sharon (Hank) and granddaughter, Michelle.

Bob was deeply loved and will be sorely missed. Please be careful during these difficult times; a month ago they were all bowling together.

A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
