Obituary for Robert P. Waldon

Robert P. Waldon died peacefully July 15, 2021. He was 98 years old. Bob was born September 5, 1922, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the son of Edna and Earl Waldon.

A proud Marine, Bob served honorably in the South Pacific during the Second World War. After his military service, he went on to become an Equipment Technician for Michigan Bell Telephone. He retired in 1985 after 44 years of dedicated service. A devout Catholic, he was a longtime member of St. Columban Parish in Birmingham and later Christ Our Light in Troy. He served as a Eucharistic Minister at Beaumont Hospital and a volunteer patient escort in Royal Oak; he was also very active in the Flint Boy Scouts. He was greatly loved and will be sorely missed by all.

Preceded in death by his first wife Betty Jean (dec. 1990) and second wife Annamary (dec. 2020), Bob is survived by his son, Dan Waldon (May), and his grandchildren, Erica (Ryan), Andrea (Stephen), Beth (Scott), Grace (Roman), Colleen (Evaristo), and Brian (Jill), and great-grandchildren, Caleb, Evan, Joel, Jackson, Jacob, Summer, Evaristo, Ben, Hudson, and Nora. He is also survived by Annamary’s children, , Karen, Paul, and James Fox, grandchildren, Erin (Marcus), Rebecca (Ben), Rachel, and Teresa, and great-grandchildren, Leila, Michael, Christopher, and Kimberly. Along with Betty Jean and Annamary, he was also preceded in death by his daughter Diane Doyle (Thomas), step-daughter, Judy Tincknell (Chuck), and his siblings, John and Rita.

Friends may visit at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 1368 N. Crooks, Clawson, Thursday, July 22, 2-8pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Christ Our Light Catholic Church, 2345 Coolidge, Troy, Friday, July 23, 10am. Friends may visit at church beginning at 9:30am. The funeral will be livestreamed at Church and can be viewed from the following link:

Burial will take place in New Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Flint.
