Obituary for Robert M. Murdock

Robert M. Murdock entered Eternal Life peacefully at his home in Birmingham, Michigan February 6, 2021. He was 94 years old. Bob was born October 14, 1926 in Detroit to Elizabeth (nee Keane) and Meredeth Murdock.

A graduate of Gesu Grade School in Detroit and U of D Jesuit High School, Bob attended University of Detroit. He co-owned and managed Wise Tag and Label Printing Company for over 60 years. He was a member of the Birmingham Optimist Club, the Players Club in Detroit and the Saturday Club. He was very involved with his church, Holy Name Catholic Church and held many volunteer positions. He was a parishioner for over 40 years. Bob was also a member of the Birmingham Athletic Club since 1959.

For 55 years Bob loved spending time at his cottage on Walloon Lake in Petosky. He was an avid skier, enjoyed racquet sports, especially tennis, and loved playing golf at Walloon Lake Country Club, where he was a member for forty years.

Bob is survived by his beloved wife of 71 years, Sid, sons, Bruce (Judie) Murdock and Steve (Pam) Murdock and brother, Jack Murdock of Westland. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Todd (Rachel), Dan (Jennifer), and Molly and great-grandchildren, McKenzie, Keagan, Rory, and Quinn. Bob is preceded in death by his parents, Meredeth and Elizabeth Murdock, brother, Keane Murdock, and sister, Maryann DeVriendt.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Name Catholic Church, 630 Harmon Street, Birmingham, Michigan, Wednesday, February 10th at 10am.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made in memorial of Bob, to St. Vincent DePaul, Holy Name Council, 630 Harmon Street, Birmingham, Michigan 48009 or Little Traverse Conservancy, 3264 Powell Road, Harbor Springs, Michigan 49740.
