Obituary for Robert "Bob" Clause

Robert “Bob” Paul Clause, 84, of Fenton, Michigan, and recently of Matthews, North Carolina, died Saturday, March 14, 2020, at Atrium Health Main in Charlotte.

Bob was born in Wayne County, Michigan, on August 25, 1935, the oldest of five children born to Joseph and Helen Cotter Clause. Bob spent time serving his country as a member of the National Guard before going to work for General Motors. He worked there as an engineer before he ultimately retired from GM. Bob’s life was not all about work, however, and he was a lifelong fan of the Detroit Red Wings and the Detroit Tigers. In fact, one of his most cherished possessions to this day was his Detroit Red Wings pillow that was knit for him by his sister, Lois.

About four months ago, after suffering a personal health setback, Bob moved from Michigan to Matthews, North Carolina, where he could be closer to his only son, Chris, his wife, Silvana, and their family. He took residence at the Cadence Senior Living Facility and quickly became part of their family while also becoming much closer to his daughter-in-law’s family as well. His smile, laughter and gentle demeanor made him loved by all and he will most assuredly be missed even by those who knew him but those four short months.

Bob is survived by his son, Chris; his daughter-in-law, Silvana; his grandchildren: Chelsea Mayers (husband Bryan) of Chapin, SC, Cyrena Clause of Charlotte, Emily Parks of Matthews and Isabella Parks of Matthews; his two great grandchildren: Liam Loeffler and Noah Mayers; and the mother of his son, Roberta Meisel of Fenton, Michigan. He is further survived by numerous other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his four siblings and his parents.

Gatherings of friends and family to celebrate the life, love and blessing of this wonderful spirit are scheduled for both his Charlotte area family and his Detroit area family.

For all Charlotte details, Bob’s family has given the privilege of caring for him and for them to the family of Lowe-Neddo Funeral Home of Matthews. A gathering of friends and family will be held on Friday, March 20, 2020, from 4 to 6 pm at the funeral home, 4715 Margaret Wallace Road, Matthews, NC 28105.

For all Detroit details, Bob’s family has given the privilege of caring for them to the Lynch and Sons Funeral Home of Clawson, MI. Entombment will take place Wednesday, March 25th, 11am at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Southfield, Michigan.
