Obituary for Robert A. Thompson, Jr.

Robert A. Thompson, Jr. of Canton died suddenly April 16, 2016. He was 66 years old. Bob was born November 28, 1949, in Detroit to Claire (nee Huneau) and Robert A. Thompson, Sr.

Bob graduated from Guardian Angels Elementary School, Troy High School and Eastern Michigan University with a Bachelor’s Degree in History. Professionally, he was a sales representative for the automotive companies. Bob was a hard worker and took great pride in being the oldest of the 6 Thompson brothers.

Bob was an avid golfer whose love of golf started while he was a caddy at Red Run Country Club. An all around sportsman, he was also an avid bowler who enjoyed hunting and ice fishing with his brothers and cousins. He also enjoyed vacationing at Lake of the Ozarks in Missouri, playing the guitar and listening to his favorite musicians, Billy Joel, The Beach Boys and The Beatles.

A devoted papa, Bob’s greatest joy came from spending time with his grandchildren. He will be deeply missed.

Bob is survived by his daughters, Amie (Daniel) Deak and Robyn (Mike) Nowak and grandchildren, Emalyn, Allyson, and Lauryn Deak and Logan, Carson, and Lily Nowak. He is also survived by Pamela Thompson, brothers, Mark (Judy) Thompson, Ray (Terry) Thompson, Steve (Sharlene) Thompson, and Dan (Mary) Thompson and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great nephews. Bob is preceded in death by his parents, Claire and Robert Thompson, Sr. and brother, Mike (Sally Thompson Reid) Thompson.

A Funeral Service will be held at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 1368 N. Crooks Road (between 14-15 Mile Rds.) Friday, April 22nd at 11am. Friends may visit Thursday 3-8pm.
