Obituary for Renzo Raymond Gorga

Ray Gorga passed away peacefully on July 15, 2021. He was 101 years old. He leaves behind his wife and caring companion of 25 years, Anna Kenedi Gorga. Ray was preceded in death by his first love and beautiful wife of 53 years, Joan Joyce Gorga, who passed away in 1995. He is survived by his three loving and grateful sons: Gregory Gorga (Sandra), Ronald Gorga (Deborah), and Robert Gorga (Nancy); his eleven grandchildren: Stacy Chinn, Carrie GorgEffen, Cathy Bouchard, Mari Gorga, Stephen Gorga, Nicholas Gorga, Andrea Bell, Jessica VanWert, Stephanie Shelby, Anthony Gorga and Andrew Gorga; and eighteen adoring great-grandchildren.

Ray was born in Rome, just blocks away from the Vatican. When he was eight years old, he and his parents, Alberto and Ida, came to the United States and settled in Detroit. After active and honorable service in the Navy during WWII, Ray embarked on a long and distinguished career as a mechanical engineer, tool and die maker and successful business owner. He had an impeccable work ethic and was highly respected by his peers and competitors alike.

A man of many talents and interests, Ray was an excellent ballroom dancer and an accomplished painter, pianist and organist. Ray was also a good neighbor and friend to many and enjoyed golf, bowling, boating and travel. He was truly a role model and inspiration to his three sons and the rest of his extended family. "Two-Manhattan Ray" will be forever remembered and missed by all.

A private visitation for the family will be held on Saturday, July 24th, followed by internment in Oakland Hills Memorial Gardens, Novi, Michigan.

Please pause for a moment on that day in remembrance of Renzo Raymond Gorga.
