Obituary for Raymond F. McPartlin

Raymond F. McPartlin of Bloomfield Hills died February 28, 2017. He was 93 years old. Ray was born April 17, 1923 in Pontiac to Nema and James McPartlin.

After graduating from Pontiac High School in 1941, Ray served as a Naval Aviator during WWII in the Aleutians and Pacific theaters. He attended DIT, Miami University in Oxford, Ohio and the Business Administration School at the University of Michigan.

Ray worked at Michigan Bell Telephone Company for 41 years, retiring in 1982 as a Vice-President of Regulatory Affairs. He was active in business and civic affairs with memberships in the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association, Kiwanis, the Michigan State Chamber of Commerce and the University Club. He was a long-time member of St. James Episcopal Church in Birmingham.

In retirement, Ray loved to travel, fly his plane, golf and spend as much time as possible with his wife, daughter and grandchildren. In life, he was an active, friendly, gregarious, and much respected individual with genuine like and concern for others. His cup was always half full! In his eternal life, Ray will be missed by his wife, family, and many friends.

Ray is survived by his beloved wife of 68 years, Ruth McPartlin, daughter, Pamela (John) Grier, and grandchildren, Sean and Elizabeth Grier. He is also survived by his sister, Margaret Kelly and many nieces and nephews. Ray is preceded in death by his cherished son, Gregory McPartlin and siblings, James McPartlin, Richard McPartlin, and Mary Jane Curry.

A Funeral Service will be held at St. James Episcopal Church, 355 W. Maple Road, Birmingham, Monday, March 6th at 11am. Friends may visit at church beginning at 10am. A private burial service will take place at White Chapel Cemetery, Troy, at a later date.
