Obituary for Ralf A. Crookston

Ralf A. Crookston, Jr. died at home in Troy, September 6, 2020. He was 94 years old. Mr. Crookston was born July 15, 1926, in Detroit, Michigan, to Carolyn Louise (nee Smith) and Ralf A. Crookston, Sr.

Ralf is survived by his children, Lisa (David) Altomari of Minnesota and Michael (Greta) Crookston of Arizona. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Michael (Carrie), Matthew (Zulieda), and Patrick Altomari, and Catie (Dan) Fosse, and great-grandchildren, Olivia, Noah, Cecilia, and Luca. In 2014, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Edna (nee Sirhal).

A lifelong resident of the Birmingham / Troy area, Ralf served proudly in the United States Army during World War II. He attended Michigan State University and also received his MBA from the University of Michigan. Professionally, Ralf enjoyed a successful career with National Bank of Detroit (now Chase). In his free time, he enjoyed travel, music, swimming, baseball, and collegiate sports. He was also a proud member of the “Ralf Running Club”. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, he was deeply loved and will be sorely missed by all.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 4580 Adams Road, Troy, Saturday, September 12, 11am. Friends may visit at church beginning at 10:30am.

Memorials appreciated to St. Vincent de Paul, Fallen and Wounded Soldiers Fund, or Angels Place.
