Obituary for Phyllis Watson Reddy

Phyllis Watson Reddy died peacefully at home October 9, 2021. She was 99 years old. Mrs. Reddy was born May 5, 1922, in Jackson, Michigan, to Loretto (nee Holden) and Joseph Watson.

A longtime resident of Beverly Hills, Mrs. Reddy grew up in Jackson, where she attended St. Mary Star of the Sea High School. She then went on to attend Marygrove College in Detroit. She married Martin Reddy on August 7, 1944, a marriage that lasted 64 years until Martin’s death in 2008. She was a member of Christ Child Society, Ladies of Charity, and the Women’s Club at the Birmingham Community House; she was also an active supporter of Angels Place. She enjoyed volunteering at Providence Hospital and worked as an Elections Volunteer for many years. She was also a member of Pine Lake Country Club, where she loved to entertain.

Phyllis valued education and inspired others to do the same. She excelled at both "keeping the family books" and leading Great Books discussions for our schools. She was an amazing bridge player and an avid painter. She had an artist’s eye. Her work was often compared to French post-impressionist artist, Paul Cézanne. She also had a flair for style – both fashion and interior design. A devoted woman of great faith, she was deeply loved and will be sorely missed by all.

Preceded in death by her beloved husband Martin and her brothers, Joseph and John Watson, she is survived by her children, Martin (Maureen) Reddy, Jr., Dr. Daniel (Dr. Diane) Reddy, Kathleen Reddy (Thomas) Butkovich, and Dr. Patrick (Christine) Reddy; her grandchildren, Michael (Stephanie) Reddy, James (Brynnan) Reddy, Maj. Caitlin (Capt. Aaron) Conti, US Army, Daniel Reddy, Theresa Butkovich, Deborah (John) Garner, Meghan Whisenhunt, Esq. (Craig Whisenhunt, Esq.), Erin Reddy, and Dr. Patrick Reddy; her great-grandchildren, Dylan, Hazel, Posy, Sam, Logan, Anne Crosby, Liam, Pierce, Michael, and Anna.

Friends may visit at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 1368 N. Crooks, Clawson, Friday 5-7pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Catholic Church, 32340 Pierce, Beverly Hills, Saturday 10am. Friends may visit beginning at 9:30am. Burial will take place in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Southfield. The Funeral Mass will be live streamed on Our Lady Queen of Martyr's Facebook page. Please visit the link below.
