Petre Marinescu died December 29, 2020. He was 97 years old. Petre was born in Mizil, Romania on December the 8, 1923 to Elena (nee Popescu) Gheorghe Marinescu.
After his primary studies in Mizil, he went to Bucharest to pursue a carrier in business. He was a Soccer player playing on one of Bucharest soccer teams. He was also in noncombat duties during the WW II. After he completed his Commercial studies and practice in Bucharest he returned to Mizil to start his business and opened manufacturing stores in Mizil.
He met his wife Matilda Florescu, he asked her hand from Matilda’s parents, John and Maria, and married her.
They had a God blessed marriage, having 4 sons, Teohari Ștefan, Gheorghe Nicolae, Petre and Stelian and a daughter, Luminița Aurelia who died of Whooping Cough in her infancy.
Petre and his wife Matilda, emigrated to the United States to be with their sons. He and Matilda later on became American Citizens. They were very proud of becoming American citizens, but never forgot their Romanian Heritage.
He got ill with acute renal failure from which he did not recover. In his final stay in the hospital he had a major bleeding complication that led to his going to the Lord.
He went to our God on 12/29/2020, at 4:20pm, with his grandson and his sons, Stelian and Gheorghe at his bedside. A candle was always lit , and the Iisus Hristos icon with the 12 Apostles, brought by Nicholas , his grandson . A Cross from Jerusalem was on his chest. He went towards God peacefully.
Friends may visit at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 1368 N. Crooks Road (between 14-15 Mile Rds.) Friday, January 1, 2021, 3-8pm with a Saracusta at 7:30pm. A Funeral Service will be held at Saints Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church, 36375 Joy Rd, Westland, Saturday, January 2nd at 11am. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery in Grass Lake, Michigan.
