Obituary for Pamela Recor Czajkowski

Pamela Recor Czajkowski, a longtime resident of Orion Township, died on January 31, 2020 after a long battle with chronic pain that was the result of brain surgery. Her passing at age 52 was unexpected. Pam was born May 31, 1967 to mother, Virginia and father, Tom Recor.

A graduate of Stevenson High School, Pam was athletic and loved playing sports. She earned an associate degree as a legal assistant from Lansing Community College and studied pre-law at University of Michigan – Dearborn. She was an accomplished youth athlete in basketball and softball and was a cheerleader, pom-pom squad member and a member of the Homecoming Court in high school. She enjoyed golf as an adult.

A legal assistant by training, she began her legal career in Chicago. She returned to Detroit and worked at Barris, Sott, Denn & Driker, where she achieved great success and became a leader. Said Eugene Driker, senior partner at the firm, “Pam was a remarkable employee at our firm and set the performance bar very high.” Pam continued her career with the General Motors legal staff until her medical challenges forced her to step away from the daily demands of her fast-paced profession.

Pam was a devoted mother, daughter, wife and friend. She proudly followed the amateur baseball career of her son, Kory at Pontiac Notre Dame Prep and Grinnell College in Iowa. She saw to it that Kory was prepared for every game and attended them whenever possible. She supported her husband in his work by providing valuable counsel and encouragement. She was an important partner in helping Doug build his career.

She forged strong friendships in high school, college and the workplace, and maintained those friendships for her entire life. She was a generous, caring friend. She met with friends at least every other celebrate their birthdays or just to catch up. She is remembered by her friends as a “sweater and pearls” kind of girl. She loved music and loved to dance. As many friends as she had and as close as they were, her focus and her best friends were her parents.

Pam is survived by her husband of 27 years, Doug and her son, Kory, a senior at Grinnell College. She is also survived by her parents, Virginia and Tom Recor and her brother, Jeff.

Visitation will be held at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 1368 N. Crooks Rd. (between 14 Mile Road and 15 Mile Road) Thursday, February 6 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. A memorial service will be held at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home on Friday, February 7 at 11:00 a.m. Friends may visit beginning at 10:30 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Pamela Recor Czajkowski Fund for Baseball at Grinnell College. For further information, contact Dinah Zebot in the Office of Development and Alumni Relations at Grinnell College. She can be reached at 612-405-9470 or
