Obituary for Nick Colucci

Nick Colucci, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on March 31, 2021, at the age of 87.

Born on August 27, 1933, Nick was the second child of Antonio and Maria Colucci. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Frank, and sister Connie. He emigrated from Italy to Canada when he was just 17 and later became a U.S. citizen. He married Virginia Bianco in 1955, and together they raised three children and shared a lifetime of memories over their 65 years of marriage.

During his career as a skilled tradesman with General Motors, Nick worked as a maintenance welder for 33 years. He was known for his outstanding work ethic and precision in everything he did, and there was nothing he couldn’t build or fix. He was a master problem solver who eagerly tackled any project or challenge.

His high standards and pursuit of excellence were evident in his personal life as well, including his talents as a golfer and classic bowler. More importantly, he was a devoted husband and an exceptional father and role model who consistently demonstrated the virtues of honesty and integrity. His perseverance in achieving goals as well as his loyalty, sincerity, and humility were among those qualities that earned him the respect and admiration of family and friends. He was well-liked by everyone who knew him and went out of his way to help anyone in need.

Upon his retirement in 1997, Nick and Virginia moved to Elk Rapids in northern Michigan. He loved their home on Lake Michigan and enjoyed the many recreational activities that were a bonus of living on the water. It was the perfect place to explore the outdoors and be connected with nature.

Nick is survived by his lovely wife, Virginia, his three children, Kathryn (Rich) Zampardo, Anthony (Lisa) Colucci, and Karen Colucci, and his three grandsons, Ryan Zampardo, Nico Colucci, and Antonio Colucci.

To honor his memory and celebrate the amazing man he was, memorial services will take place later this spring and summer.
