Obituary for Nicholas Ktona

Nicholas Ktona of Birmingham died peacefully May 28, 2018. Nicholas was born July 8, 1923 in Albania to Eleni and Kristo Ktona.

Nicholas came to America at a young age from Albania. He settled in the Boston area with his father, Kristo. He missed his mother, Eleni and sisters who stayed behind. He was only able to visit them once.

He moved to the Detroit area after serving in the Army Air Force in WWII with distinction. Nicholas and Mary were married on Veteran's Day 1956 in St Thomas Albanian Orthodox Church. Two children followed after their move to Birmingham, Michigan.

Nicholas retired from Bendix Industrial Controls and General Dynamics, respectively. He volunteered and was honored at Beaumont Hospital as a Patient Transporter. Nicholas was an accomplished bowler, a lifelong Red Sox fan and an automotive enthusiast. He also enjoyed gardening and travel.

He made a difference in our world as he always put his family first.

Nicholas is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Ktona (nee Elias), daughter, Elaine Kathryn McLain, and son, Richard Alan (Ann Marie) Ktona. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Adam Nicholas Ktona, Scott Patrick McLain, Alexa Rae McLain, and Kyle Kathryn McLain and several nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Service will be held at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 1368 N. Crooks Road (between 14-15 Mile Rds.) Thursday, May 31st at 1pm. Friends may visit beginning at 11am. Burial will be in White Chapel Cemetery in Troy.
