Obituary for Morgan James Sutherland

Morgan James Sutherland died March 13, 2021. He was 31 years old. Morgan was born in Southfield, Michigan to Sarah O'Neill and Carl Sutherland.

Morgan enjoyed hiking, fishing, boating and being in the outdoors around his home in Bellaire Michigan. He had a deep passion for live music and hanging out with his friends often saving his cash and traveling long distances to see Widespread Panic and different music festivals.

Growing up in Milford, Morgan was very close to all of his grandparents. He loved to skateboard and played years of pee-wee hockey. At fifteen Morgan moved to Teton Valley, Idaho where he enjoyed skiing and climbing in the mountains. There he completed high school and the Outdoor Emergency Care course to become a ski patroller. Morgan was accepted to Montana State University living and working mostly in the restaurant business in Bozeman, Montana for seven years. Missing the lakes and his family, he moved home to Michigan eventually settling in Bellaire.

Morgan had the most beautiful smile and a huge heart that was so full of love, always making everybody laugh. He’d get out of bed to help you change a tire, he was that kind of friend. Morgan always had your back unless you were playing 8 ball, then all bets were off and good luck because he could run a table. His time with us was too short and we’ll miss him dearly.

Morgan is survived by his mother Sarah O’Neill, his father Carl Sutherland, grandparents Carl Sutherland, Shirley Flora and Scott Sims, grand parents James and Susan O’Neill, Uncle Jason O’Neill Aunt Charlotte O’Neill, cousins Owen O’Neill and Charlotte O’Neill, Stepfather Dave Hollingshead and his Stepbrother Fischer Hollingshead.

Visitation will be held at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 1368 N. Crooks Road, Clawson, Michigan 48017 on Sunday, March 21, 2021 from 2-8pm. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Funeral Service will be held privately.
