Obituary for Millie J. Stamat

Millie J. Stamat, of Clawson died surrounded by her family on Friday evening, August 5, 2016 following her courageous battle with breast cancer. She was 68 years old. Millie was born July 5, 1948 in Grundy, Virginia to parents Ethel Pauline (nee Bouton) and Theodore Napier.

One of 13 children, Millie was just a young girl when her family moved to metro Detroit. She was a life-long resident of Clawson and the founder and owner of Stamat Daycare, where she lovingly cared for hundreds of children over many devoted years. Her precious children she loved called her, “Ms. Millie”. Millie enjoyed gardening, scrapbooking, and was a member of the Red Hat Society. She will be deeply missed by all those she loved and touched.

Millie is survived by her two loving daughters, Dr. Heather (Dr. Matt Schramski) Stamat and Jennifer (Anthony) Mannino; she was a proud grandmother “Geega” to Anthony, Mia, Gabrielle, Joseph, and Louie; her siblings, Peggy, Lois, Betty, John, Jerry, and Teddy Ray. She is also survived by her former husband, Mark (Cindy) Stamat. Millie is preceded in death by her siblings, Mary, Ruth, Margaret, Eugene, Bill, and Bob.

Visitation at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 1368 N. Crooks Rd. (between 14-15 Mile Rds.), Sunday 3-8pm. A celebration of Millie’s life will be held at the funeral home Monday 11am.

Burial in White Chapel Cemetery, Troy.
