Obituary for Mildred "Sid" Murdock

Mildred “Sid” Murdock died peacefully at home on April 10, 2021 in Birmingham, Michigan. She was predeceased by her husband of 72 years, Bob Murdock who died 9 weeks earlier on February 6, 2021. She is survived by her two sons, Bruce (Judie) and Steve (Pam) Murdock. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Todd (Rachel), Dan (Jenn), and Molly Murdock, and four great grandchildren, Mackenzie, Keagan, Rory, and Quinn.

Sid was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She was born September 13, 1927 in Pasadena, California and moved to the Detroit area as a teen. She attended Redford High school and graduated from Michigan State University. She married Bob Murdock in 1950. They were members of Holy Name Catholic Church for over 40 years.

Raising her family and making a welcoming home was her life’s passion. She was a wonderful cook and would peruse cookbooks daily finding the perfect recipe for dinner. And she was a gifted decorator. She loved to decorate her homes in Birmingham and on Walloon Lake. Sid loved the views of the lake from her cottage and spent many years enjoying Walloon and all that it has to offer.

Sid played bridge, read, and loved to listen to WJR radio every morning. She had a big bright smile, a kind disposition and a special love for all dogs. She was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Name Catholic Church, 630 Harmon Street, Birmingham, Thursday, April 15th at 10am.

Memorials may be made to St. Vincent DePaul, Holy Name Council, 630 Harmon Street, Birmingham, Michigan 48009 or the Michigan Humane Society, 30300 Telegraph Road, Suite 220, Bingham Farms, Michigan 48025.
