Obituary for Mildred "Millie' Meida

Mildred A. "Millie" Meida, 87, passed away from complications of dementia at Arden Courts Memory Center, where she had been a resident.

Millie was born on March 29, 1933, in Crystal Falls, Michigan, the daughter of Frank L. and Ruth (Bacon) Kinney. She grew up in Flint, Michigan, attending Utley High School and Flint Junior College. On June 12, 1954, she married Frank H. Meida. They would be married for 65 years. In 1968, they relocated to Birmingham, Michigan, after Frank was transferred to General Motors headquarters.

Millie worked as a clerk at GM Flint Assembly while Frank attended the University of Michigan at Flint, and other jobs over the years, but her career was raising her family and working with her church, Lutheran Church of the Redeemer in Birmingham. She was a member of the Altar Guild, the bridge club, and other groups. She loved being around people, collecting rocks, and tending the garden of their house.

Millie is survived by her husband, Frank; daughters Roxanne (Steve) King and Lori Castle; grandchildren Vickie and Danny Castle, Greg and Kevin King; her sister, Zelma Pierce, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A Funeral Service will take place at the funeral home Sunday, April 5, at 2pm. The service will be closed to the public but available to view online (Follow the two links to view the video via Vimeo.com. The Funeral is divided into two parts, so there are two links.)
