Obituary for Michel G. Bouchar

Michel Gabriel Bouchar, characterized as a really good man by anyone who knew him, went to the arms of our Lord, Jesus Christ, on October 5, 2010 at 9:51 A.M. He was a spiritual, humble, and peaceful man who always thanked God for his blessings.

Michel had strong faith and love for God, his Syriac Orthodox roots, and his family. He dedicated his life to his family and his church and was an encyclopedia of knowledge on the bible and the Syriac Orthodox language (Aramaic) and history. Michel was a Afudyaqno (Full Deacon). For years, Michel supported the Syrian Orthodox orphanage in Syria. He took pride in helping establish it and that he served on its board.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Salwa; his children, Gabi, Marta, Barsoum, Laila, Albert, and Claudia, and their spouses; and his eight grandchildren.

In 1972, Michel emigrated from Lebanon to the United States to give his family better opportunities. He worked very hard using his tailoring skills to support the family. He dressed impeccably and his exceptional tailoring skills were appreciated by people from all walks of life including high-profile clients who came to him at Jacobsons department store.

Visitations will be at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 1368 N. Crooks Road (between 14-15 Mile Roads) Thursday 4-8 P.M. Prayer service held on Thursday at 7 P.M. Funeral liturgy will be held at St Peter and Paul, 25566 Lahser Rd, Southfield, MI 48033, on Friday at 11:00 A.M

Memorials will be donated by the family to the Syrian Orthodox orphanage in Syria.
