Obituary for Mary Rose Watkins

Mary Rose Watkins of Birmingham, died December 25, 2017. She was 94 years old. Mary Rose was born December 1, 1923 in Detroit to Ida (nee Russell) and Louis Henry.

Mary Rose was a woman of great faith whose kindness, positive attitude, and thoughtfulness touched everyone she met. A life-long fan of the Detroit Tigers, she loved sports, reading and spending time with her family.

Mary Rose is survived by her children, Katherine (Philip) Skover, Donald P. (Anna) Watkins, Jr., Michele (Harold) Armstrong and Christine (Thomas) Maccari. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Melanie (Peter) Thullen, Kevin (Motoko Maki) Watkins, Elyse Watkins, Luke Armstrong, Philip Watkins, Elizabeth Armstrong, Mario Maccari, and Rudolph Maccari, great-grandchildren, Jalen Passmore, Mackenzie Thullen, and Isla Watkins, and siblings, Margaret Coleman, and James (Carolyn) Henry. Her sister, Nancy Voss died just hours after Mary Rose. Mary Rose is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Donald P. Watkins, children, Jerome, Timothy (Catherine), Maureen, and Denise and grandchildren, Matthew Johnson and Jacquelyn Watkins.

Friends may visit at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 1368 N. Crooks Road (between 14-15 Mile Rds.) Tuesday, January 2nd, 2-8pm with a Rosary at 7pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Name Catholic Church, 630 Harmon Street, Birmingham, Wednesday, January 3rd at 11am. Friends may visit at church beginning at 10:30am. Burial will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Southfield.
