Obituary for Mary Jane Rusciano

Mary Jane Rusciano died peacefully at home in Bloomfield Hills, June 24, 2012. She was 82 years old. Mary Jane was born June 17, 1930, in Detroit, to Bridget (nee Grace) and John Froling, both with ancestors of Irish origin. She was raised in Detroit where she received primary and catholic high school education, the latter at Visitation High School. Mary Jane had two years of junior college and was employed by the automotive industry at the GM Building.

Mary Jane married Dr. Emilio Rusciano and moved to Baltimore, Maryland for two years before returning to Detroit and settling first in Southfield and then Bloomfield Township where she lived until her death.

Mary Jane loved gardening and ikebana flower arrangements, as well as animals, always caring for a domestic pet. She was a very talented knitter and loved to travel. As a member of the Nomads Flying Club, she enjoyed trips to Europe, Japan, Africa, South America, and Tahiti as well as all areas in the United States. The most exciting moment of her life, filled with some of the best memories of her traveling adventures, was her trip to London in the Concord.

Her life was enriched with constant attendance to theater and concerts, and above all, by friendships originated in her teenage years, still alive today. Her new friends in the Bloomfield Township enclave enriched her life, as well as the frequent family reunions of her vast Irish family. In the last few years she was able to interact with her grandchildren, pouring her love on them and following their accomplishments.

Mary Janes health declined slowly during the last eleven years, but she managed to keep her love for family and friends until her mental and physical strength abandoned her. Mary Jane died in her home of 39 years, viewing the garden she planted 15 years ago at the front of her house.

Mary Jane is survived by her beloved husband, Dr. Emilio Rusciano, and children, Julia (Tammy Ehle) Luke, Cynthia (Steven) Kidd, John (Elisabeth) Luke, and Mariann (Denny) Foy. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren, Garrett, Tanner, Luke, Keaton, Justin, and Madeline, and brother, William (Marilyn) Froling.

Visitation will take place at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 1368 N. Crooks Road (between 14-15 Mile Rds.) Thursday 3-8pm with prayers at 7:30pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Regis Church, Lincoln at Lahser, Bloomfield Hills, Friday 11am. Friends may visit at church beginning at 10:30am. Interment in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Southfield.

Memorials appreciated to Angels Place, 25240 Lahser Road, Suite 2, Southfield, Michigan 48033 or Michigan Humane Society, 30300 Telegraph Road, Suite 220, Bingham Farms, Michigan 48025-4507.
