Obituary for Mary Eileen Schrot

Mary Eileen Schrot passed away peacefully at her home in Bloomfield Township, Michigan on December 24, 2018 at the age of 94. Mary was born in St. Paul, Minnesota on November 25, 1924. She was the second of four children born to Timothy and Leona O’Keefe.

Mary Eileen’s family valued education and she earned a degree at St. Catherine University in St. Paul. She also showed a natural talent and love for the piano, having once played for the Minneapolis Symphony Orchestra. Mary Eileen also enjoyed participating in the Detroit Catholic Central High School Mother’s Club, Detroit Council of Catholic Women, Christ Child Society, and Church Women United.

Mary Eileen is survived by her children, John (Deborah) Schrot, Jr., Thomas (Sheryl) Schrot, Stephen (Anna) Schrot, Timothy (Maria) Schrot, David (Anny Lin) Schrot, Mary Carol (Stanley) Fons, Mark (Susan) Schrot, Richard (Julie) Schrot, Maureen (Robert) Henderson, Jacqueline Schrot, and William Schrot. She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren, Lisa (Jeffrey) Johnston, Jenna (Michael) Mignano, Erin (Jason) Dill, Erica (Keith) Miller, Timothy (Jessie) Schrot, Jacquelyn (Andrew) Mansour, Christine (Trevor) Andrews, Daniel (Elizabeth) Fons, Kimberly (Justin) Berkholz, Katherine Fons, Gregory (Ellery) Schrot, Michael Henderson, Justin Schrot, Eileen Schrot, Madelyn Schrot, John Schrot, James Schrot, and Alexander Schrot and great-grandchildren, Ashley Dill, Trevor Dill, Lily Miller, Zachary Miller, Olivia Johnston, Dylan Miller, Jack Arthur Johnston, and Jack Stanley Andrews. Mary Eileen is preceded in death by her beloved husband, John J. Schrot.

Friends may visit at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 1368 N. Crooks Road (between 14 - 15 Mile Rds.) Sunday, December 30th from 2-8pm. A Rosary and Sharing of Memories will be held at 7pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Name Catholic Church, 630 Harmon Street, Birmingham, Monday, December 31st, at 10am. Friends may visit at church beginning at 9:30am. Burial will follow in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Southfield.
