Obituary for Martha Grady Danz

Martha Grady Danz of Bloomfield Hills died peacefully May 15, 2012, surrounded by her family. She was 86 years old. Martha was born July 28, 1925, in Corry, Pennsylvania, to Helen (nee Besselman) and Lawrence Grady.

Martha grew up in Detroit and graduated from Redford High School. In her younger years she was a member of the Detroit Operettas and remained a talented vocalist throughout her life. On September 2, 1950, she married her true love, William Danz at St. Marys of Redford. Martha and Bill were founding members of St. Fabian Parish in Farmington Hills before settling in the Birmingham area, where they became active members of St. Regis and Our Lady Queen of Martyrs.

Martha was a faithful and devoted Catholic mother and deeply proud that her 3 daughters graduated from Marian High School and her three sons from Brother Rice. In her spare time, she spent countless hours volunteering with the Red Cross at various nearby hospitals. She was a member of the St. Regis Altar Guild and maintained a special relationship with the Franciscans of the former Duns Scotus Monastery in Southfield.

A loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Martha Grady Danz will be remembered best for her deep faith in God and her fierce devotion to the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus. She was deeply loved and will be sorely missed.

Martha is survived by her children, Barbara Danz, Lorna Danz, Mary (Dave) Becker, William Danz, Paul (Alison) Danz, and Robert Danz.
