Obituary for Marie T. Cook

Marie T. Cook died peacefully September 23, 2017. She was 87 years old. Marie was born May 16, 1930, in Detroit to Marguerite and Jacob Petry.

If you didn’t know her, you really missed out on something special. If you knew her, you knew her smile (or her sly grin if you knew her really well), you knew her passion for bringing everyone together and you knew she was genuine. You knew what family meant to her, you knew what friendship meant to her and you probably knew what making Christmas cookies meant to her. She traveled the world and shared thousands of miles and memories with some of you. She went down some rough roads, two-tracks and trails with some of you. She made pumpkin bread for some of you when it was exactly what you needed. We can all remember and treasure those memories and those moments. We should all celebrate them and as she takes that next step in life with Him, while it seems that she has left us, we can all still find her in our hearts.

Marie is survived by her children, Paul (Paula) Cook and Jeen (Paul) Kobb, grandchildren, Jaime Weeg, Michael, Cody, Chandler, and Brenden Cook, and Ian Kobb, great-grandchild, Jaxon Baker, and brothers, Bob Petry and Jerry (Marlene) Petry. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Marie was preceded in death by her sister, Joan Petry, and her husband, Jeen Malcolm Cook.

Visitation will take place at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 1368 N. Crooks Rd. (between 14-15 Mile Rds.), Thursday 3-8pm with Sharing of Memories at 7pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Regis Catholic Church, 3695 Lincoln Rd., Bloomfield Hills, Friday 11:30am. Friends may visit at church beginning at 11am. Burial to follow in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Southfield.

Memorials appreciated to St. Vincent de Paul.
