Obituary for Margaret "Peggy" Walker

Margaret “Peggy” Walker died peacefully October 23, 2017. Margaret was born on April 17th in Detroit, Michigan to parents, Kathleen (nee Hackett) and Frank Grimmer.

On April 27, 1946 Peggy married Vincent “Dixie” Walker. Vincent was the most important thing in Peggy’s life for over 67 years. The two had 3 children together and loved spending time with them and their dear grandchildren.

One of Peggy’s biggest passions was working at the League of Catholic Women Bargain Counter North resale shop in Berkley. She started as a volunteer in 1967 and became manager in 1984. She dedicated most of her time to the shop until her retirement in early 2010.

Aside from her deep devotion to her family, her friends, her work, and her church, everybody will remember Peggy for her class. She took great pride in her looks. She was a meticulous dresser and was always sure to have her hair and makeup done.

Peggy was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She was deeply loved and will be sorely missed by all who knew her.

Peggy is survived by her loving children David Kevin (Cristi) Walker and Jeffrey (Sharon) Walker. She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren, Tom and Matt and their mother, Kim. Peggy is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Vincent and her dear son, Paul Walker

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at the National Shrine of the Little Flower Basilica, (Woodward and 12 Mile Rd.), Royal Oak, Thursday 10am. Friends may visit at church beginning at 9:30am.

Memorials appreciated to the Muscular Dystrophy Association, 950 Stephenson Hwy., #209, Troy, Michigan 48083.
