Obituary for Margaret E. Dilworth

Margaret Eleanor Dilworth of Bloomfield Hills passed away peacefully September 5, 2021. She was 89 years old. Margaret was born August 2, 1932 to John and Helena Carty in Worcester, Massachusetts.

Margaret was a graduate of South High in Worcester, MA and Worcester State Teachers College. She taught for several years before staying home to raise four children.

A longtime member of Holy Name Parish in Birmingham, she was active in the church as a volunteer. She loved to read, travel and spend time with family. Summers were spent visiting family on Cape Cod. One of her biggest joys was being a grandma to her seven grandchildren. She was deeply loved and will be missed by many.

Margaret is survived by her children, Kathleen (Mike Studnicki), Sharon (David Baker), Mary, and Edmond (Michele). She is also survived by her grandchildren, Kelly, Jennifer, Patrick, Edmond IV, Lacey, Victor, and Alexandra; and many loving nieces and nephews.

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, John and Helena Carty; stepmother Margaret Carty; brothers, Richard, Paul and Francis Carty. Margaret is survived by her brother John Carty, SJ of Cairo, Egypt.

The family will be holding a small private service.

Memorials appreciated to The Solanus Casey Center (online or to Fr. David Preuss, Director, 1780 Mount Elliott Street, Detroit, MI 48207) or to Catholic Services of Southeast Michigan, 15945 Canal Road, Clinton Twp, MI 48038. Memorial gifts may also be made online at CCSEM.org
