Obituary for Linda King McCormick

Linda King McCormick of Auburn Hills passed away peacefully after struggling with ovarian cancer, Friday, May 3, 2019. She was 70 years old. Linda was born April 6,1949 in Waltham, Massachusetts to Harold King and Marion Damon.

Linda was an only child and after her parents divorced, her uncles brought her and her mother to Nebraska to live and grow up with family around her. She lived there until graduating from Benson High School and moving to Boston, Massachusetts. Linda worked as a secretary at Harvard, for a hand surgeon, and other administrative jobs.

Eventually she wound up in an advertising agency where she met her beloved husband, Donald McCormick. They were married on July 4, 1982. It seems like a long time ago but it all went by too quickly.

Linda worked at Harlan Elementary School as a Community Service Organizer, and then Secretary for many years. After her retirement she continued to help in other schools in the district and made many more friends. She was also a member of St. Thomas More choir.

Linda loved her granddaughter, reading, writing, knitting, cooking, sports and helping in the schools. She was truly a wonderful person to know. Her sense of humor and her love of life will be greatly missed by so many.

She leaves behind a husband of 37 years, Don, a son Jeff, daughter in-law Sherrie, granddaughter Madilyn Grace and many heartbroken family members, friends, neighbors and members of the Birmingham School District community.

A Memorial Service will be held at Lynch& Sons Funeral Home, 1368 N. Crooks Road (between 14-15 Mile Rds.), Saturday, May 18th at 12 Noon. Friends may visit beginning at 10am.
