Obituary for Lam Hui Tam

Lam Hui Tam, of Sterling Heights, passed away July 30, 2012 at William Beaumont Hospital in Troy, Michigan. He was 84 years old. Lam was born December 13, 1927 in Taishan, Canton, China to parents, Yua Chou and Chui Laun Tam. He married Fung Choon (Wong) Tam in 1952 and together they moved to the United States in 1970.

Lam led a joyful life in China and in the United States as he worked in careers that ranged from a bicycle taxi driver in China, managing a laundry mat in Hong Kong, working as a chef in the United States and retiring in 1990 to help raise his grandchildren.

Lam is survived by his beloved wife, Fung Choon Tam; two children, Kin Tam of Sterling Heights, Michigan and Sau Tam Seto of Highland, Michigan. He also is survived by his six grandchildren, Marie Ovsenik and her husband Michael, Lily Seto, Dr. Marty Tam, Marsha Tam, Jack Seto, and Marvin Tam, and one great-grandson, Charles Ovsenik. Lam is preceded in death by his parents, Yua Chou and Chui Laun Tam.

Visitation will be held at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 1368 N. Crooks Rd., (between 14-15 Mile Rds.) Thursday, August 2nd from 1-8pm and Friday, August 3rd from 9am until the time of the funeral service at 10am. Interment will follow in Van Hoosen Jones-Stoney Creek Cemetery, Rochester Hills, Michigan.
