Obituary for Kenneth "Ken" Allen

Kenneth “Ken” J. Allen, Sr. of Royal Oak, died March 2, 2017, at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak. He was 81 years old. He was born in Paragould, Arkansas to Herbert and Lula Allen on March 9, 1935.

Ken was a longtime resident of Royal Oak, and attended Madison Heights High School. He worked as an inspector for GE, retiring in 1997 after 42 years of dedicated service.

Ken and his beloved wife Nancy celebrated 60 years of marriage on January 19th. Ken loved spending time with his family and his dogs. In his spare time, he enjoyed gardening, yard work, and up north, as well as going fishing. Ken was also an avid NASCAR fan.

Ken is survived by his wife Nancy, and his four children: Ken (Cheri) Allen, Jr., Betty (Doug) Knop, Paul (Jenn Mitchell) Allen, and Mary (Barry) Chaffin. Ken is survived by 11 grandchildren: Greg Awdey, Kris Awdey, Alyssa Allen, Paul Allen, Nina Awdey, Zach (Bri) Chaffin, Emily Chaffin, Megan Mitchell, Sami Mitchell, Ryan Mitchell, and Amanda Allen. Ken is also survived by three great-grandchildren: Kylee, Robert, and Mackenzie. In addition, he is survived by sisters Shelby Kaminsky and Jackie Townsend, as well as several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Gene Allen and Ronnie Allen, sisters Dolores Hopkins and Roma Allen, and grandchild Taylor Allen.

Friends may visit Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 1368 N. Crooks Road (between 14 and 15 Mile Rds.) Monday March 6th, 2-8pm. A funeral service will be held at Parkview Church of Christ, 3333 E. 13 Mile Road, Warren, Tuesday March 7th at 11am. Friends may visit at church beginning at 10am. Interment in White Chapel Cemetery, Troy.
