Obituary for Keith W. Duncan

Keith William Duncan, died late Wednesday evening October 19, 2011 at his home in Rochester Hills surrounded by his family. He was 25 years old. Keith was born July 6, 1986 in Southfield, the second of three children to parents Timothy and Jeanette (nee Losey) Duncan.

Keith grew up in Rochester Hills and attended Stiles Elementary School, Avondale Meadows, and Avondale Middle School. He graduated from Avondale High School as part of the class of 2004. Keith was actively involved in the JV and Varsity soccer program during his high school career.

After high school, Keith studied Industrial Engineering at both Oakland University, and Wayne State University in pursuit of a baccalaureate degree. In the summers during his college career, Keith worked at the City of Troy in the Parks and Recreation department. Because of his tenacity and hard work as a member of the tree crew, Keith was endearingly nicknamed The Hammer by his co-workersa name he was proud to bear.

Keith was an outdoorsman. He especially loved camping, hiking and kayaking. In addition, Keith enjoyed watching Red Wing hockey games, having bonfires in the backyard, and spending time with his family and friends.

His sisters, Alicia and Renee, adored Keith because he was considerate and kind hearted. The family cat thought so too because Keith was her favorite companion. He was extremely good-natured, constantly smiling and knew how to draw laughter and smiles from those around him. He will be sorely missed!

Keith is survived by his loving parents, Tim and Jeanette Duncan; sisters, Alicia (Cayle Ferguson) Duncan and Renee Duncan; Grandmothers, Joanna Losey and Martha (George) Curry. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, a nephew, cousins and friends. Keith is preceded in death by his grandfathers, Charles Losey and Roy Duncan.

A memorial gathering will be held at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 1368 N. Crooks Rd. (between 14-15 Mile Rds.) Friday, October 28th, 4-8pm with sharing of memories at 7:30pm. A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Thomas More Church, 4580 Adams Rd., Troy, Saturday, October 29th, at 10am.

Memorials appreciated to The American Cancer Society - Relay for Life - Honoring Keith, c/o Lynch & Sons Funeral Directors, 1368 N. Crooks Rd., Clawson, Michigan 48017.
