Obituary for Keith F. Honhart

Keith F. Honhart of Birmingham died January 29, 2020. He was 76 years old. Keith was born July 8, 1943 in Detroit to Betty (nee rubner) and Jack Honhart.

Along with his mother, brother and sister, Keith successfully operated their family business for over 50 years, carrying it on after his parents, Jack and Betty Honhart, worked so hard to set the foundation for its future. This business was like a second home to him. He enjoyed working alongside so many faithful, long- time employees.

He was a man of simple pleasures whose passions included his two daughters, seven grandchildren and the family cabin in Tawas. He had a love for all things about Michigan and a great knowledge and passion for its history. Growing up in Birmingham, he forged many life long friendships-good friends who stomped in the woods and cruised the streets from boyhood to manhood.

In his later years, Keith restored his father's 1958 Corvette and spent his summer weekends on the car show circuit making new friends along the way. He was a quiet giver and kind man.

Keith is survived by his daughters, Sara (Todd) Phillips and Rebecca (John) Williamson and grandchildren, Kathryn, Darby, Jackson, Gabriel, Kendrick, Alexander, and James. He is also survived by his sister Anne. Keith is preceded in death by his brother, John Honhart.

A Funeral Service will be held at Congregational Church of Birmingham, 1000 Cranbrook Road, Bloomfield Hills, Monday, February 3rd at 11am. Friends may visit at church beginning at 10am.

Memorials appreciated to Detroit Rescue Mission Ministries, 150 Stimson Street, Detroit, Michigan 48201 or Karmanos Cancer Institute, ATTN: The GI Cancer Research Fund, 4100 John R, VE01FS, Detroit, Michigan 48201.
