Obituary for Juanita Mary Sharbaugh

Juanita Mary (Fees) Sharbaugh, devoted wife, beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother passed away in her son’s home in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan December 16, 2018.

Born June 10, 1921 in Bakerton, Pennsylvania to Harry and Naomi Fees. Juanita was preceded in death by Burley Sharbaugh, Sr., her husband of 68 years, siblings Irene, Lillian and Lois. Her sister, Camilla Kissane, New Port Richey, Florida and brother, Harry L. Fees, York, Pennsylvania survive.

Juanita is the mother of five children Burley, Jr., Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, Gretchen (Charles) Boose, Defiance, Ohio, Susan, Fairbanks, Alaska and Sally, Olympia, Washington. A daughter, Theresa and daughter in law Carroll preceded her in death. Her grandchildren are Jeffrey (Lynn) Sharbaugh, Troy, Michigan, Zachary (Michelle) Boose, Flagstaff, Arizona, Gregory (Sherry) Sharbaugh, Royal Oak, Michigan, Jason (Lane Burns) Boose, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and Peter (Jennifer) Sharbaugh, Buckeye, Arizona. Juanita’s great grandchildren are Donovan Sharbaugh, Courtney Sharbaugh, Franklin Sharbaugh, Caroline Sharbaugh, Madeline Boose, Thomas Sharbaugh, Malcolm Boose and August Boose.

Juanita began her career as a hairdresser in the salon of Angelo Dominic at the famous Brandon Hotel, Spangler, Pennsylvania in 1940. Juanita and Burley resided in Carrolltown, Pennsylvania with their five children until the family relocation to Ohio in 1962 when Burley accepted a position with NASA Plum Brook. While rearing her family Juanita worked as a telephone operator for the General Telephone Company in Norwalk, Ohio. After the family moved to the Pacific Northwest in 1973, she earned her real estate license and worked for Anchor Century 21 Realty Company, Silverdale, Washington where she was an agent and relocation coordinator until her retirement at age 75.

An active adventurer Juanita enjoyed everything from a hike and picnic at Mount Rainier to hosting parties for family in her own backyard. She frequently traveled to visit throughout the US and Arizona for spring training baseball games played by her favorite Seattle Mariners. Juanita enjoyed going to the ocean, the theatre, musicals, movies and concerts. Always ready for a new experience, she embraced life joyfully and encouraged her family to do the same.

She was an active member of Holy Trinity Parish, Bremerton, Washington and the Legion of Mary.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Regis Catholic Church, Lincoln at Lahser (between 14-15 Mile Rds.) Bloomfield Hills, Michigan on Thursday (December 27th) at 11:30am. Friends may visit with the family at church beginning at 11am.
